1. Make sure that your source signal is present. Follow cables and connections to and from the source to insure connectivity.

2. If running your server locally, make sure that your server has a public IP, or an internal IP address that is publicly mapped via your router.

3. Call you host provider and insure that you are connected to the specified server.

Nine times out of ten there is a simple typo in your setup. Have a friend or co-worker look over your set-up. Check your links, playlist files, publishing points, encoder info, and file names.

Make sure that the server is not down. Ping the specific server! Open a command promt and type: ping 'servername', or to run a ping test online click here.

A trace route will help reveal and diagnose potential network issues. A tracert measures the time that it takes for a series of TCP/IP packets to reach a specified destination. The output will show the time in milliseconds that it has taken for the packets to reach your specific host. Higher times = bad routing and/or local network issues. If you find that you have a peering problem, contact that provider to find out if there are any significant outages etc.
